The BONBON was opened by Joe and Kathleen Lynch on 1st of March 1951. The name was inspired from a shop that once stood in James Street, DROGHEDA. BONBON is a French term meaning “VERY GOOD”.

The BONBON passes generation to generation and is Proud to be a Family Business, the shop is now in its 3rd generation. The BONBON is Newcastle’s best known sweet shop. Customers come from all over the province and further afield to visit and purchase some traditional sweeties, toys and gift ware.
