About us

newcastle-county-down

The BONBON was opened by Joe and Kathleen Lynch on 1st of March 1951. The name was copied from a shop that once stood in James Street, DROGHEDA. BONBON is a French term meaning “VERY GOOD”.

When first opened it was operated out of what was practically a private house and it was several years before a traditional front was added. Then in 1982 it was extended to its present size and over the years has been altered internally several times.

Harvey Lynch took over that running in 1972 and is now in the process of passing the business on to the third generation.
